What a great idea
I just found out about this new blog today. Inspired by Evil Editor's "New Beginnings" feature, this blogger has decided to post the first 150 words of contributor's favorite novels.
That falls under fair use, right?
In any case, I'm dashing off an e-mail about Katherine right now.

Hi! Thanks for asking. I'm hoping to use this blog to keep people posted on how the process is moving along. Unfortunately, I don't have much to report right now.
I was hoping to begin sending queries to literary agents out by now. But here it is, the end of August, and my fourth draft is still not done. I've had a lazy summer, it seems.
Several agented authors have suggested that I begin querying without a final draft in hand, but I hate to do that because I keep tinkering with the opening pages. I'm still not sure my "hook" is strong or my writing "tight" enough. Perhaps I'll have to post a few of my attempts here and have readers vote for their favorite. We'll see.
